By the fans, for the fans.

Tide Talk is an independent partnership among Rhode Island FC fans and content creators. It grew out of the ‘RIFC Nation’ podcast and has expanded to incorporate written articles, live streams, pre-recorded content and open forum discussions with other fans.

Meet the team

Matt Kerwin (@MattK401)

A proud native Rhode Islander and long time fan of the beautiful game. Matt is a former high school soccer coach, and current high school basketball coach who loves sports. After joining the Defiance 1636 ahead of RIFC’s inaugural season, Matt started RIFC Nation, a weekly podcast covering the team. After chatting online with Ryan, and others RIFC nation expanded to Tide Talk to become the voice of the fans.

Matt was recently named the co-chair of the Defiance 1636 Juniors, along with his son Zac who is an avid RIFC fan and Club Collector fanatic like his father.

You can catch Matt and his entire family in the supporters section at Tidewater Landing and see Matt on the Tide Talk post match podcast along with The Away End preview episodes. Never on a blog lol. If you see him in the beer line, hit him up for a Tide Talk sticker.

Ryan Healey (@RAHealey)
A lifelong soccer player and fan, Ryan was incredibly excited to learn that his home state was getting a professional soccer team, even buying a season ticket deposit before he had plans to move back to Rhode Island. Upon returning home, Ryan joined Defiance 1636 to meet fellow fans who were also excited around building the culture of this club. After writing multiple post-match essays on Reddit, Ryan joined what was RIFC Nation to discuss the team’s first win over the Las Vegas Lights and hasn’t looked back since.

A founding member of Tide Talk, Ryan hopes that people can fall more and more in love with Rhode Island FC through our content and feel that they have a place to share their opinions about the team. Living in Providence with his wife and dog, you can catch Ryan on the Tide Talk Show, The Away End, the newsletter and even the occasional blog.

Andrew Quadros (@Quadros13)
A huge soccer fan and proud Rhode Island native, Andrew couldn’t be more excited that our state finally has its own professional team in Rhode Island FC. As a season ticket holder, member of the official supporters’ group (Defiance 1636), and contributor to Tide Talk, his goal is to help build a fan experience that rivals the passion and excitement found at the biggest clubs in Europe and South America.

You’ll find him at every RIFC match with family and friends cheering on the amber and blue. He writes “The Tide Chart” every month along with other blog posts and occasionally fills in on the Tide Talk podcast. He’s always up for talking soccer, so don’t hesitate to say hello if you see him!

Timmy Sclafani (@tsclafani20)
Timmy joined Tide Talk in July 2024 and began writing the Player Ratings post match blogs. Timmy has been following RIFC for a few years before they played their first match when he noticed the construction of Tidewater Stadium taking place along the Seekonk River.

He lives in East Providence with his wife, cat, and dog. Outside of soccer, he is a passionate consumer of food, movies, and music.

More to come

Patrick McKenna (@ )
Pat has been a passionate supporter of Rhode Island FC since the first whispers of a USL expansion club. He followed the club’s development even before it officially existed, supporting its proponents as they navigated the complexities of securing funding for Tidewater Landing, our future home. Growing up in Southeastern Massachusetts, he cherished regular trips to Pawtucket to watch the PawSox with his father. Now, as a Providence resident and father of two young kids, he’s eager to create those same lasting experiences for his family through Rhode Island FC.

By profession, he’s an urban planner dedicated to improving life in urban communities. His work focuses on social justice, community empowerment, and equitable access. He brings this passion for community building to my role with Tide Talk, where he aims to expand the club’s reach, welcome new fans, and provide a valuable resource for dedicated supporters. The Tide Talk motto, “for the fans, by the fans,” perfectly captures his approach.

Scott (@RIFC_UK)
Scott is a devout Rhode Island FC fan from South Wales. Religiously tuning into RIFC games at all hours of the night and early morning, and when games are early enough, hosting RIFC watch parties in his local pub.
