Rhode Island FC vs. Loudoun United FC Player Ratings - 10/14/2026

Rhode Island FC secured all three points at home with a 1-0 win over Loudoun United FC on Wednesday night.
The win is enough to officially clinch Rhode Island FC a spot in the playoffs, and good enough to put us in 5th place for the night - level on points with Pittsburgh (who come to town on Saturday night) but behind them on the tiebreaker of Total Wins Against Conference Opponents. Depending on our last two results of the season, Rhode Island FC could still finish in 4th place, or in 7th place - so there's a lot still to play for.
It'd be a bit of an oversimplification to describe tonight's performance and win as dominant, or convincing, or comfortable. But Rhode Island certainly did enough to earn all three points with almost 4x as many shots as Loudoun and 3x as many touches in the opposition box (despite having only 40% of the possession).
I certainly don't want to be a downer after an important home win - but these are the matches that we SHOULD be comfortably winning every single time. I only say this to say: nice job by the team. Well done, and let's not get carried away with 1-0 over Loudoun.

Rhode Island FC Player Ratings:
Koke Vegas (GK) - 6/10
We always love to see a clean sheet - but Koke wasn't asked many questions in this match, as he faced just two shots. He did make a nice body save, well off his line, in the 56th minute on a dangerous Loudoun chance.
Aldair Sanchez (D) - 6/10
A very strong shift from Aldair on both sides of the ball - in particular, I thought his work in possession was stronger than it has been in his past few matches. He worked the ball well up the left flank in coordination with Tsukada, and played Tsukada in on multiple occasions.
Frank Nodarse (D) - 6/10
Another standout defensive performance from Frank. Despite having just five defensive contributions (which is low, by his standards), it felt like he was just as active as usual - he was regularly jumping passing lanes and entry passes to recover the ball and quickly springing counter attacks or starting build up play.
There's a reason Koke only had to face two shots on the night. Well, actually, there are two reasons. 1.) Loudoun is really bad, and 2.) Frank and Karifa had amazing foresight all night long and cut out nearly every Loudoun attack before it could develop.
Karifa Yao (D) - 7/10
Frank and Karifa as a center back pairing has to be up there with the most formidable in the league. First and foremost, they are defensively sound and incredibly physical - nothing gets by them. Karifa led all players tonight with nine defensive contributions of his own. But they've also both developed into very capable players with the ball at their feet - with Frank obviously significantly more comfortable carrying the ball forward, but I continue to be impressed with Karifa's improved passing range, and willingness to play a cross-field switch this season.
Nick Scardina (D) - 8/10
What a week in the world of player ratings for Nick Scardina. Following his season-low rating of 3/10 at Detroit over the weekend (which I specifically referred to as a disaster class), he now receives his highest score since March 17th against CD Faialense in the Open Cup.
Of course, Scardina scored a pivotal goal - which would stand as the game-winner - just three minutes into the match. It was a great finish from Scardina - a hard, low shot from the top of the 18-yard box.
Beyond the goal, Scardina made some crucial defensive interventions and an amazing hustle play. He had two blocked shots and six total defensive contributions (second most on Rhode Island), but my favorite Scardina play of the night was his amazing sprint back to stop a breakaway chance for Loudoun in the 20th minute.
Hugo Bacharach (MF) - 6/10
No surprise that we had dramatically more control in the midfield compared to last weekend's match, with the return of Hugo Bacharach after his suspension for yellow card accumulation.
Hugo basically did what Hugo does - glided through the midfield with his signature progressive carries, dominated aerially (7/8 won aerial duels) and helped the team build not only out of our own half, but also in the opposition half. I'd be remiss not to mention Hugo's clever poke on the ball that Scardina ultimately scores - earning Hugo his second assist of the season.
Amos Shapiro-Thompson (F) - 7/10
Amos was excellent tonight - he was characteristically true to his defensive responsibilities, and recovered the ball absolutely everywhere around the pitch - leading all Rhode Island players with nine ball recoveries (Clay would be proud).
On top of that, Amos was instrumental to our attacking play and pulling the strings in the attacking third, with a game-high six chances created as well.
Noah Fuson (F) - 6/10
During a down season for Noah, I would have to say this was one of his stronger performances. In his 62 minutes and with just 31 touches, he and Jojea Kwizera carried the ball forward more than any other Rhode Island players - and the majority of those carries for Noah were happening through the middle in a dangerous area of the pitch.
His forward passing - which included two chances created - was strong tonight as well - and done with a high passing accuracy of 89%. I thought there were periods where Noah was really dominant and involved, and then he would disappear for 10-20 minutes before popping back up with another chance.
Yutaro Tsukada (F) - 6/10
I came here prepared to slander Tsukada for the second yellow - which led to a much nervier finish than was necessary and also robs us of our clear-cut best option at left wing for a huge match against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
But after rewatching the play. What the hell? This might be the softest second yellow I've ever seen. There is no discernible jersey tug here, but merely a hand resting on the attacking players back.
So, I take back my bad thoughts about Tsukada. I think he had a strong night otherwise, and was really hard done by the second yellow.
Stas Korzeniowski (F) - 5/10
Stas's hold-up play was significantly better tonight than on Saturday against Detroit. The ball was sticking to his feet much better and he looked a lot more like himself.
He had several opportunities to score - opportunities of varying degrees of quality - and failed to convert. Several of them were long range opportunities with a pretty low chance of scoring. These are forgivable. But the laid off chance from Noah in the 25th minute, should have at least been put on target.
One thing I love to see... Stas was not happy at all when he was subbed off. Most guys just don't like coming off - and I'm sure that was part of it - but I think he was also frustrated with himself for not bagging at least one goal from his several chances. I love a hungry player!
Jojea Kwizera (F) - 6/10
Welcome back to playing on the right wing, Jojea. What a surprise, Kwizera looked completely revitalized after returning to his obvious best position. He did a little bit of everything tonight - carrying down the right wing (and the left at times, for that matter), a total of four shots - one of which narrowly missed the top left corner - and created three chances as well.
He also chipped in with some great defensive work, recovering the ball in our own half several times throughout the match, and winning seven out of 13 ground duels.
Subs
Osman Foyo - 4/10
Tough showing for Osman. I thought he mostly did a great job getting the ball to the corners and helping to kill some clock while we were holding on to the one goal lead. But the timing of his runs, some of his positioning during our attacks, his willingness (or ability) to challenge for and win 50/50 balls... none of these were very sharp on the night.
I think burying his chance at the final whistle would've really helped his confidence... but instead it was another tough miss (saved by the keeper) in front of the home crowd.
Leo Afonso - 6/10
Leo, on the other hand, was an absolute spark plug coming off the bench against tired legs in the 62nd minute. In his 28 minutes played, he generated three chances (including the Big Chance for Foyo) and took a couple of shots of his own.
Zach Herivaux - N/A
Grant Stoneman - N/A
Dani Rovira - N/A
